What a cool website!

So, maybe you are sitting there wondering who has the right gear, or who doesn’t have their boots enchanted, or maybe you are just wanting to see how you stack up end game style… whatever it is you want to see, have i got a website for you:

Be Imba!

I highly suggest signing up for a free account and doing the guild audit, it takes a while to load when you do something that big, but it is TOTALLY worth it!

Let me know if you find anything interesting!

Oh, and me mentioning this website has NOTHING to do with the fact that I am finally rated in top shape. 🙂

Trying to decide on progression…

So, with nothing needing keys anymore and all that good stuff, we have killed all the junk in SSC and TK, and are looking at progression.  Now we get to the good stuff… but now we have to balance out getting any gear upgrades for people that might have little gaps here and there from SSC and TK, and then of course having all the time to focus on progression.  But, of course… we have to be able to do ALL of this and not burn people out… yikes!  Sheesh Blizz… way to make those of us who got started a little late stress out!  Haha!  I am hoping we can work on progression while just adding in the SSC/TK bosses when we are bored and stuff.  Here’s hopin it works out!

Bear Mount Frustration

Okay, so a few people in our guild have decided that they want a bear mount, but in order to get a bear mount you have to know EVERY fight inside and out, you have to be able to run through the windows of a hut while mounted up, and you basically have to be able to conserve mana, while fighting, and doing CRAZY stuff… the problem here is this… you get your group together, and someone gets their feelings hurt, and why wouldn’t they?  Maybe they can do ALL this stuff, but you can only bring in ten people, so you are stuck.  The bear mount run is a really cool thing, but should you sacrifice ever seeing it just because people get their feelings hurt?  We had to last week because we had three people who got so upset that they didn’t make it in the bear group it just fell apart.  People saying “oh they can take my spot” and all that good stuff.  I mean, I do want a bear mount, but I don’t want to piss off an entire group of people while I am doing it, ya know…

A New Raid Leader

So, it seems our guild has turned over a new leaf.  Our crazy screaming annoying and just really stressful raid leader finally left the guild and transfered to another server, and at first I was actually worried about this.  You see, I am not really a raid leader of sorts.  I mean, I can totally head up the occasional Maggie’s or Gruul’s.  But I just don’t do so well with the leading of a progression raid.  Instead I am more of a deal with all the other crap we have going on during the raid kind of gal, so I was worried.  But, then someone stepped up.  We had a player step up and become an awesome raid leader pretty much out of nowhere!  And she is awesome.  She gets stuff done without being a butt, and she obviously has fun doing it.  Everyone just loves her, and I am very excited to say that Kael is officially down!  So just remember, if you have a raid leader or an officer quit for whatever reason, there is a chance that something better is just sitting there quietly hanging out in party 2 🙂

The new DKP system

Okay, so here’s what we came up with… after much deliberation, going back ad forth, and even a fight or two lol

Our new DKP system

Making the switch from SK to DKP:
For the switch we will be awarding 1 point of dkp for each position on the SKG list (#1 spot will get 35 dkp #2 will get 34 and so on)

Earning points
+1 DKP will be awarded to each member that is signed up, on time, buffed and ready for the pull EXACTLY at raid start time
+1 DKP is awarded for a T4 boss kill (gruul/mag)
+2 DKP for a T5 boss (anything in TK and SSC)
+3 DKP awared for a T6 boss kill. (MH, BT and Sunwell)
Additional dkp may be awarded at the end of a raid (this is to compensate for wipe nights on new content, or even just doing a kick ass job of 1-shots)
It is not uncommon to spend MANY nights wiping on some of the upcoming boss fights in T6 dungeons. Bonus DKP will be awarded as necessary

Spending points:

After killing a Boss dropping BoP loot, all players in the raid will be awarded specified DKP. Items dropped will then be auctioned to the highest bidder.
To bid a item, whisper the loot master with your bid amount, (your bid must be higher than the current bid) and the highest bid will be updated in raid chat and vent as they come in, when bidding slows/stops a count will be called and highest bidder wins!

1. You may not spend more dkp then you currently have.
2. You may not retract a bid for any reason, be 100% sure you want the item before sending the whisper. (Mistakes happen, and will be dealt with, but “I changed my mind” is not a valid excuse)
3. All items have a 5DKP minimum bid. (This amount may be increased at a later date to compensate for inflation.)
4. Officers always have the right to loot council for any given item
5.Fake rolls end here, its been done and its been fun, but its over. Do Not Fake Roll.
6.Alts earn DKP for the main but alts are not allowed to spend the DKP. (alts will be brought in at request of a raid leader)
7. BEFORE the loot goes to an open roll, the ALTS in the raid will have a chance to roll on it.
8.Bidding is for main spec only, offspec/pvp and “just for fun” loot will only be acquired by /roll (when no one has chose to spend dkp) IF LOOT GOES TO A ROLL, LOOT GOES TO THE HIGHEST ROLLER. (You have been warned, fair and square, so quit being a girl, and spend your DKP or you could lose it to that brand new 70 in the raid!)
8.Casuals will be able to earn and spend dkp, but remain as last priority for invites, and can not earn standby DKP.
10.Current DKP is displayed in the public guild note, and a full list will be posted here (link)

So, what do you think? Have we gone insane?

Well… we tried suicide kings…

Okay, so we tried suicide kings for a while, even making changes as we saw fit… but it just isn’t working.

The big thing that really doesn’t work is the addon we were using the suicide kings geo mod, and it was basically just a piece of crap.  It didn’t upload to the website properly, it wouldn’t always sync, it was just a mess.  If your guild is looking at going suicide kings… find a different mod… which sounds easy, until you realize there just aren’t that many out there.

The other reason we are looking at another loot system is because of attendance.  We still have people not showing up for wipe nights, or not wanting to come to those ‘raids for the good of the guild’ nights.  So, DKP here we come.  The only thing is that there are SO many dkp addons out there that I don’t even know where to start!  I just keep researching them, looking at them and thinking… hmmmmm I dunno….

ugh… why can’t all the bosses drop some loot for everyone in the raid?

The New Content and Raiding…

Well, now that they have opened up a new instance, a new 25 man, and no longer require keys for BT and Hyjal… raiding is completely different.  It now seems like it is a race to get to see all the instances before WOTLK comes out and guilds that couldn’t get in before are in now.  We definitely jumped right into BT and Hyjal last week and downed a couple of bosses and one in Hyjal with no problem.  It was fun to get to see all the new content, and even though Kael has yet to die, we are enjoying the idea of officially being a black temple guild.  But is it fair to call ourselves a BT guild if didn’t kill Kael?  I mean… we went there, we killed the first two bosses, and we got the loots, but still… Kael… is a thorn in our side!  Will we kill Kael?  You bet your lame ass we will!  Are we planning on doing it soon?  Well, maybe not… Hyjal is just so cool, and the trash comes to you!

Black Temple Guild

Ahh friggin Hyjal Trash!

You want to know what the most challenging part to Mt. Hyjal so far is?  The friggin trash drops!  OMG, so how do you distribute the loot, what is a fair way to make sure people who really want it get it.  Wow Blizzard, REALLY?@!?!  You make the stuff despawn so we can’t even do it AFTER the boss is dead.  This is so dumb, I mean seriously… stupidest thing evar.

The Curator Hump

Tonight will begin HOTA’s fourth week of Lower Karazhan. We have the first four bosses on farm, despite switching the group roster from night to night depending on who is available. But we cannot seem to down Curator.

Many people don’t seem to realise that Curator is dps a gear-check. If you can down Curator with the gear you have, you should be ok with the rest of Karazhan. If your group can’t put out enough dps, you will grind against Curator for several weeks until your gear improves to a higher level.

As a result, my raiders are getting discontent. Nobody likes a stop in progression, and especially for the people new to raiding that don’t realise that kills don’t just “automatically” happen, it’s frustrating. Some of the better geared raiders are leaving HOTA to join other guilds that can give them an easier ride through the content. This slows us down even further as we have to find and gear up another person in their place.

It’s starting to feel like we will be bashing our heads against Curator for some time yet. I have nightmares about that menagerie! Oh when will it end…. I guess even when we do get over this hump, we will have to face the noob-test that is Shade of Aran. That will be interesting!
