Woot! we had our first meeting today a a guild and the turnout was great. We rolled around a bunch of ideas for a hour around the shaman fire totem area. we now have a banking system and regular instances shedualed. This is a huge step in organization and actualy using the guild for its purposes. Its a great way to get everyone on at once to listen to each other and working together.
So we had one of those days today where absolutely nothing good would drop. We went into ZF prepared for some great new gear, but very little came up. We started out without any leather wearers and the pieces dropped like crazy. After a couple people left we got a druid and rouge, but mail started dropping every where right after the shaman quit. Then the drops people were hoping for didn’t drop. No shiny swords, no pretty cloth headbands. It was a crappy day for loot, but at least we got some stuff for the guild bank and we had a good time.
…grr I want that headband.
So, I had my first experience on the waiting list the other day, and I have to say it sucks lol. As GL I feel I need to be in the raids at all times, be it for support, criticism, encouragement, or just to be there because. The other night we were doing our first night of BT for the week, and we have 5 mages in guild, all 5 show up and want to go, and since it was the first 3 bosses in BT we were doing, which I do not need anything from, I decided to sit out. I sit outside the instance for 2 hours. Just sitting there, on my mount so I don’t get ganked, and just listening in vent. Watching Raid Warnings popping up on screen, sending whispers to people in between pulls, asking for updates, man, it sucks! But you know its part of the game, and the waiting list is extremely important… Without people standing outside, your guilds progression would suffer, and raid times would last longer. With 2.4 around the corner, and the summoning changes coming:
* Ritual of Summoning can now be used to summon players into instances. Provided the player meets all entry requirements, they can be summoned in from anywhere in the game world.
It is going to make it a lot easier for guilds, to get those needed people to the instances, without waiting 10 mins for them to fly down, or having to run all the way outside to summon them. Just remember to respect your locks, because shards aren’t free ![]()
‘What in the world..” is the first thought that comes to mind when i log in to see my /g goes nuts!
[Guild] OMG OMG OMG- KAY!
[Guild] Oh shit..kay’s on, she’s not gonna be happy
[Guild] someone better whisper (name deleted) and tell him she’s on quick so he can log off
It’s amazing the things my guildies think i don’t see in guild chat…
ANYWAYS- it turns out that one of my officers ( a guy i’ve known for a while now- and trusted to boot) has up and /gquit. He wanted to go to a guild that was further along in progression even though they didn’t even offer him a raiding spot. This character was our main healer for raids and a good friend too. Needless to say, i was pretty distraught over this. This all happened about a week ago. This morning when i log in, i find an in-game mail from him asking to come back and saying he’s sorry.
So here’s the question- what in the world do i do?
He’s a good guy, a great player- but if he’s going to just dump the guild when he’s officer and Main Healer for our raids for someone further progression-wise- who’s to say he’s really the best choice for the guild?
What would you guys do?
Another night of Vashj… let’s just hope it doesn’t end in a wipe fest! All we need to do is kill her once lol! This is our second night of fun on her, and this when the crunch time happens for guilds… they have to come together in a raid like this where we are going to die a ton and spend a lot in repair bills. You have to keep it light and fun, but at the same time keep it serious… and how? Poker rolls in between wipes? Perhaps a joke or two? The key is the balance between fun and serious… it is rough to find it, but it CAN be done ![]()
Conclave has been said to be a guild that people can’t leave. Its kind of true because those that do leave struggle to do so (excepting the occasional dummy spitting kid in the past). What ive noticed is that a huge % of them want to come back later. Even a year down the track. We had one return to a non raiding spot today. Told me his biggest wow regret was leaving the guild and how sorry he was. He was one who reached 70 early and thought he was too leet for us. Funny how it turns out hey.
So, after much deliberation, consideration, and perhaps a little inebriation we think we are going to use the Suicide Kings loot system. We feel like it is probably the closest to our guild philosophy of trying to remain fair and true to the members, but still having a good time and not being as hard core as we necessarily could be. There are definitely some concerns, but I will be writing more about the system and rather or not it is a good one as we get it into place. I just hope that it ends up working out to solve some of our loot problems. (And maybe eventually I will get my T5 Set Bonus… swoon.)
A large part of being in the guild is fitting in with the people in the guild. And while this is not usually a problem, it tends to come up from time to time.
Today some of the guildies were talking about loot and general game info and one of the new players to the game started asking about what some of the terms ment. Most of the members more than willing to be helpful and answer this guy’s questions, but after a while one of the more experiences players starts badmouthing the guy telling him to “shut up you noob and learn to play”. Now I wasn’t very happy with this and decided to send him a whisper telling him that everyone has to start somewhere and one of the guild rules is no hating. Now in the mean time the people who were paying attention to chat started to get annoyed with this guy and it turned into a small fight that ended with the jerk leaving cause he doesn’t want to play with a bunch of noobs.
Right then some of the players drew closer together, united against this jerk. Those kinds of guys can really discourage new players and really wasn’t worth keeping anyways. The guildies recognized this and stood up for their fellow member. Its times like this when I realize that all the work that I put into the guild is actually helping people, its working and that, even though its just a computer game, it can bring people together to have a great time.
Well, my guildies have decided it is time for a new loot system, which stresses me out because it means I am not responsible for coming up with something fair, and easy to maintain and manage. I am not a fan of DKP, because the rich just get richer, but I do understand its purpose…. I am going to have to come up with something though. Currently we are just rolling, and this is really stressing people out with tier 5 gear. Which, is understandable, but it means I have to come up with something better. I guess you guys will be hearing a LOT about it in the upcoming weeks until I have it all sorted out. Anyone have any super cool addons or mods they use?
