Having helped lead a non-roleplaying guild before, I can say that it's pretty much the same as any other non-competative raiding guild. We do instances together; we do our weekly raid; we tear up our opponents in the Battlegrouds; and we have our own drama that crops up every once in a while.

Roleplaying just adds another dimension to the game and one that can serve as a unifying factor. Our guild maintains a more-or-less lore-based justification for our existence. Each player is invited to come up with a reason why his/her toon(s) are in the organization and then proceed from there. My hunter (and guild leader) ended up as General through a series of unfortunate events; my priest was just looking for a place where she could contribute and feel needed. It's fun to see how everyone interacts together, both in-character and out. It brings people together and it's always fun to have characters that loathe each other on sight when you know a good friend is at the other end of the keyboard laughing along with you as they fight.

Thanks for all of the warm wishes and welcomey-type text!
